Legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese, who helped rescue the work of British filmmakers Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger from obscurity, is the perfect person to discuss their unique and now beloved work. Scorsese takes us on a richly enjoyable and deeply personal journey through the films of the visionary British duo behind classics such as The Red Shoes and Black Narcissus.
Made in England is brought to life with a treasure trove of rare archival material. The story is told using diaries, audio recordings, home movies, personal snapshots, and of course, the films themselves. Three classic films by Powell and Pressburger are screened in the festival's program.
Filmography: All This Can Happen (2013), Art from the Arctic (2006), The South Bank Show: Michael Powell (1986).
