In the mid-1990s, Gu Xuebing, a former professional sharpshooter who's lost his edge, takes a job as a security guard at a near-bankrupt factory that has not paid its workers for months. He soon finds himself at the center of a scandal that's about to blow the roof off, all while trying to keep the rebellious son of his love interest, Xiao Jin, from going off the rails.

Inspired by true events, Director Gao Peng's feature debut is a slow-burn powder keg of a movie, blending social commentary with crime drama, as he zeroes in on the human cost of China's rapid-fire reforms.
