A young Georgian man named Lado is involved in smuggling antique furniture from Georgia to Russia. Frustrated by his immaturity, Lado's girlfriend, Medea, buys an apartment in St. Petersburg's historic center. The place is cheap as the apartment comes with its current owner, Vadim Vadimich, an opinionated, old-fashioned character. Soon, Lado is caught and deported, the antique warehouse is raided, and Medea hides in a wardrobe...

The Antique comes to Haifa directly from its world premiere at the Venice Festival. This is the second feature by Rusudan Glurijdze, following House of Others (2016 Haifa IFF). The film was inspired by the 2006 deportation of thousands of Georgians by the Russian government.

Filmography: House of Others (2016).

Selected as Georgia's official submission for the Best International Feature Film category at the 97th Academy Awards.
