Widow Clicquot is based on the true story of the “Grande Dame of Champagne,” Barbe-Nicole Ponsardin (1777–1866), who, at the age of 20, became Madame Clicquot after marrying the heir of a winemaking family. Following her husband's untimely death, Barbe-Nicole is determined to protect her family's legacy and boldly challenge the men—and the state—attempting to strip her of her vineyards.

Widow Clicquot comes to Haifa directly from its premiere at the Toronto Festival. Director Thomas Napper entwines a sparkling tale of flourishing female entrepreneurship, a toast to the perseverance of unshakeable women.
