After the death of his mother, thirty-one-year-old Rein moves to the Alps to find peace and quiet while working as a snowboard instructor. However, his quiet life is disrupted when his extroverted, sixty-year-old father Gijs shows up on a ski tour and becomes the center of attention, wooing Rein's girlfriend and pushing his son aside. As tensions rise, the conflict between father and son escalates on the mountain. Soon, nature lashes out violently, transforming their petty power struggle into a desperate fight for survival.

Alpha, the new survival drama by Jan-Willem van Ewijk (Atlantic, 2015 Haifa IFF), comes to Haifa from the Venice Festival, where it won the Label Europa Cinemas Award.

Filmography: Pacifica (2024), Atlantic (2014), Nu (2006).
