Lia, a retired teacher, sets out to fulfill a promise she made to her late sister: to find her niece, Tekla, who ran away from home years ago, and to discover what became of her. When Lia learns that Tekla has left Georgia and fled to Turkey, she embarks on a journey to Istanbul, accompanied by Achi, a young, free-spirited neighbor who wants nothing more than to enjoy and celebrate life in the big city—the complete opposite of the stern and serious woman she is. Despite this, or perhaps because of it, Lia begins to warm to Achi, worrying about him and protecting him—perhaps as a way of atoning for past mistakes with her own family. Together, lost in a city full of lights and endless possibilities, they try to find Tekla but soon realize that searching for someone who never wanted to be found is no easy task.

"Crossing Paths" is the new film by Levon Akin, the acclaimed young Georgian director known for the beloved "And Then We Danced". Here, he presents a brave and thought-provoking drama, selected for the prestigious Panorama section of the Berlin Film Festival, where it won the Second Jury Prize, largely thanks to the powerful and uncompromising performance of veteran actress Mzia Arboli, portraying a woman seeking forgiveness before it's too late.

Filmography: And Then We Danced (2019), The Circle (2015).
