Karlovy Vary 2024 - Special Jury Award, Best Actress Award

When Maria, newly divorced, first lays eyes on the dashing musician Sigmund, she’s determined to win him over. Though he isn’t instantly smitten, he eventually succumbs to her quiet, confident advances, and their passionate affair quickly leads to marriage when she becomes pregnant. Seven years later, Sigmund asks for a divorce, forcing Maria to come to terms with herself.

Winner of the Best Actress Award and Special Prize of the Jury at Karlovy Vary, Loveable is the feature debut of Lilja Ingolfsdottir. “Ingolfsdottir's unusual, intelligent marriage story explores what happens when a second chance goes the way of the first, and who, if anyone, is to blame” (Variety).
