22-year-old Halley and her six-year-old daughter, Moonee live in a cheap motel near an Orlando freeway, a stone's throw from a cartoon-inspired theme park. That park might as well be on Mars for this mother and daughter. But the precocious six year-old and her rag-tag group of friends can still fill their summer break with childhood wonder, possibility and a sense of adventure while the adults around them struggle with hard times.
