The screening will be preceded by a discussion: Director Avi Nesher talks to Shmulik Duvdevani (Ph.D) about The Present-Past Trilogy
The award winning second installment in Avi Nesher's Present Past Trilogy was both a commercial and critical success. It is considered by many one of the best films ever made in Israel.
The year is 1968 and a Haifa-born teenager gets a summer job with a Holocaust survivor, who makes ends meet by brokering marriages and smuggling goods. Throughout the summer, the mysterious Matchmaker takes the boy on a dangerous initiation into the deepest, darkest urban underbelly of Haifa, where love takes surprising shapes and history becomes mythology.
