A young man's parents refuse to lend him money, so a friend gives him a counterfeit 500-franc bill. This one act sets into motion a chain of events that will lead to murder. The bill passes from hand to hand, and with each exchange comes another betrayal.
Robert Bresson's final masterpiece, inspired by a Tolstoy story, Money is a stunning protest against greed and corruption.
Filmography: Mouchette (1967), Au Hasard Balthazar (1966), Pickpocket (1959), A Man Escaped (1956), Diary of a Country Priest (1951), Les dames du Bois de Boulogne (1945).
