In a solitary town nestled in the Mexican mountains, three young girls take over the houses of those who have fled, dress up as women when no one is watching, and have a hiding place to remain safe from those who would take them away; but dark echoes of violence become an inescapable threat.
Having made her reputation with the documentary Tempestad (Haifa Festival 2016), Tatiana Huezo makes her fiction debut with a poetic coming-of-age story that doubles as a scathing condemnation of Mexico’s violent drug trade. The film won a Special Mention at the 2021 Cannes Festival.
Filmography: Tempestad (2016, doc), El aula vacía (2015, doc).
