Hubert, Maja, their children, Hubert’s old college friend Dawid with his new girlfriend and son, have all come to the Danish Island of Bornholm for a long weekend. In the way of family vacations, things soon begin to go very wrong and the supposedly relaxing vacation descends into toxic hell.
Winner of the Europa Cinema Label Award at Karlovy Vary, Fucking Bornholm began its way as a podcast. Filmmaker Anna Kazejak gives the story a darkly comic tone and presents a stylish, confident film, supported by great acting, beautiful cinematography of pale sandy beaches, and clever use of music.
