In Thom Rom, a poor coastal village in South Vietnam, the lives of three women become intertwined. Duong is married to a fisherman who is still in love with a childhood friend, Nhan. Against all odds, a warm friendship slowly develops between Duong and Nhan, while both their homes fall apart. In another part of the village, Loan, haunted by a childhood trauma, plots revenge but is caught off guard by an unexpected turn of events.
Filmmaker Bui Thac Chuyen spins a mesmerizing tale of life, love and loneliness in yesteryear’s Mekong Delta, based on short stories by renowned female author Nguyen Ngoc Tu.
